Should a nonconforming structure or nonconforming portion of a structure be destroyed by fire, explosion, collapse, act of God, or act of public enemy, it may be repaired, replaced, or reconstructed within its original footprint or to a greater degree of conformity. Should an application for a building permit to repair or replace not have been made within one (1) year from the date of loss, it shall not be reconstructed except in conformity with the provisions of this Code. Should one (1) year prove inadequate, an extension of a maximum of one (1) year may be applied for by application to the planning and zoning commission. (Ord. No. 360, §§ 1, 3, 4-6-93; Ord.
